Anyone who works with children can say that it is not for a paycheck. We do it because we believe in raising and serving the next generation of individuals who will shape and defend our country. We do it because we believe that our children are our future and our legacy.
For me, working at the American Legion Children's Home meant more than just providing tools for our children's future, but giving back to the men and women who served and fought for our freedom and for this country. As a daughter of a father who served in the army, and a grandaughter of two veterans who served in World War 11, I believe in their cause: to fight for those who can not fight for themselves.
Now myself and many others are fighting to keep the home of forty-four children from being shut down and taken away. How devastating it has been to tell these children that the home that has stood strong for 82 years, will no longer be around to provide them a safe foundation they so desperately need. However, we at the American Legion Children's Home can not fight this battle alone. We are humbly asking for support from you to stand up and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. In the words of Winston Churchill, "Never, Never, Never, give up". We can't and niether can you.
